47 years ago began Operation Carlota , Cuba’s military epic in Angola, led by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. After one of the longest wars of national liberation in Africa (1961-1975), on January 16 of that year, the agreement for the independence of Angola was signed in Lisbon. Just over 2,000 Cubans, mostly young, died on Angolan soil.

African nations are taking part in the United Nations Climate Conference (COP 27) being held in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm-el-Sheikh from November 6-20.

6- ANALYSIS OF THE BOOK “LIFE AND TERROR IN STALIN’S RUSSIA, 1934 -1941” OF AMERICAN HISTORIAN ROBERT THURSTON- BY GROVER FURR (SP)
“The main conclusions of the ‘honest’ American bourgeois historian Robert Thurston are as follows:
· The “Stalinist system of terror” described by previous generations of academics never existed .
· The influence of terror in Soviet society during the Stalin years was not significant.
· There was no widespread fear of repression in the 1930s.
· The repression was limited and did not affect the majority of the Soviet people. Soviet society supported the Soviet government instead of fearing it.
· For the majority of the Soviet population, the Soviet system under Stalin gave the possibility of climbing the social ladder but also of participating in social life.
These conclusions of Robert Thurston, almost blasphemous from the point of view of the traditions and the spirit of Western Sovietology and, in fact, perceived as such by most Sovietologists, are based on documented facts and statistics.
Moreover, it must be said that without being a proponent of communism and Soviet power , Thurston managed to abstract himself from established anti-communist and anti-Soviet stereotypes and dogmas.
