Stqarrija għall-Istampa: Il-pożizzjoni ta’ Żminijietna dwar il-Politika proposta tal-ippjanar DC15

L-Organizzazzjoni Xellugija Żminijietna qalet “li hija mħassba ħafna bil-proposta tal-ippjanar DC 15 b’referenza għall-Politika ta’ Kontroll fuq l-Iżvilupp u l-Linji Gwida tad-Disinn”.

Żminijietna saħqet ukoll li “it-tħassib tal-NGOs fir-rigward tad-densità tal-popolazzjoni li mhiex sostenibbli; l-iżvilupp u l-ippjanar tal-bini insupportabbli; suq tal-proprjetà mhux affordabbli u infrastruttura fqira huma kollha ġustifikati. Is-sitwazzjoni attwali qed tiġġenera wkoll sens ta’ insigurtà fil-familji”.

“L-effetti ta’ din il-politika li tipprova tħalli l-prezzijiet tal-propjetà stabbli huma għall-perjodu qasir”, stqarret dan Zminijietna – Leħen ix-Xellug.

“Din il-politika se tippermetti lis-sidien japplikaw għall-iżvilupp tal-bini mhux ibbażat aktar fuq is-sulari massimi permissibbli kif stipulat fil-pjan lokali tal-2006, iżda fuq għoli speċifiku f’metri. Dan se jirriżulta f”sular aktar għal kull applikazzjoni ta’ żvilupp”.

Żminijietna kompliet tgħid li “għalkemm din il-politika tinftiehem f’termini ta’ żieda fin-numru ta’ proprjetajiet għall-bejgħ jew għall-kera, xorta hija bbażata fuq mudell ekonomiku mhux sostenibbli. Dan il-mudell qed jimbotta l-prezzijiet tal-propjetajiet ‘il fuq, u qed jagħmilha diffiċli għan-nies komuni biex jaċċessaw is-suq. L-ispekulazzjoni fil-prezzijiet qed tagħti sehem taghha wkoll”.

Press Release: Zminijietna’s position on proposed Policy DC15
The Left think tank organisation Zminijietna said “that it is highly concerned with the proposed policy DC 15 with reference to Development Control Policy and Design Guidelines”.
Zminijietna also stressed that “NGOs’ concerns with regards to unsustainable population density; insupportable building development and planning; an unaffordable property market and poor infrastructure are all justified. The current situation is also generating a sense of insecurity in families”.

“It’s effects to try and keep property prices stable are mostly short term”, stated Zminijietna – Voice of the Left.

“This policy will enable owners to apply for building development not based on the maximum allowable storeys as laid out in 2006 local plan, but on a specific height in metres. This will result in an ‘extra storey’ for each development application”.
Zminijietna continued by saying that “although this policy is understandable in terms of an increase in the number of properties up for sale or rent, it is still based on an unsustainable economic model. This model is pushing prices of properties upwards, making it difficult for the common people to access the market. Speculation in prices is also playing a part”.
